Q: What is 3d and 4d imaging?
A: 3D imaging is a still-captured image and photo of ‘yourbaby’. 4D will enable you to see ‘yourbaby’ in real time saved as a video/DVD.

Q: Do I need to drink any water?
A: 3D imaging does not require a full bladder. However, it would be good if u drink plenty of water 4 days leading up to the scan. This helps you stay hydrated and helps ensure optimal imaging.

Q: Do I need a referral from my doctor?
A: No, a referral is not required, but note that this does not replace the routine scans required by your doctors.

Q: Are the 3D and 4D scans covered by Medicare or private health insurance?
A: No, this is an elective scan, you will need to pay the cost of the scan.

Q: When is it best to book?
A: 3D imaging can be done as soon as 12 weeks gestation. However, for higher accuracy we recommend 15 weeks onwards to determine the baby’s gender.

The best time for 3d imaging to see its features is from 28-32 wks. At this age the baby’s features are more distinct and apparent. However if you are heavily built we recommend you book between 32 to 34 weeks.

Q: Why is the “Gender Scan” package recommended at 15-20 weeks?
A: ‘yourbaby’ is more mobile at this gestational period allowing for effective gender determination and an opportunity to have a quick sneak peak

Q: What happens if my baby is being difficult and cannot be seen?
A: We will try our best to maneuver you and ‘yourbaby’ around to obtain the best images. However, every baby and mother is different. The factors can include, gestational age, position of baby, position of the placenta, amount of fluid around baby and maternal weight.

Q: Does ultrasound affect the baby?
A: No, studies have shown that it is not harmful to the baby.
